Jill Wakeman, a member of the Phoenix Stroke Club, has received a Highly Commended Life After Stroke Award from the Stroke Association in recognition of her courage and determination. Mother of three, Jill Wakeman had a life-changing stroke in July 2013 which left her unable to talk or move the right side of her body. … Read more
A group of members & carers enjoyed our holiday to Bournemouth from 12 to 16 September. The Monday to Wednesday group members enjoyed a trip to Tilgate Park in August. We were shown a range of animals and creatures including a massive stick insect, an owl, a cockroach and a snake. Jill Wakeman, a member of Phoenix Stroke Club, successfully completed this year’s London Marathon on 24 April and is raising money for the stroke club. We have been fortunate to receive a huge and generous donation of £800 from the Dog and Bacon Golf Society. The Treasurer, Steve Pennington kindly came to the Club to present the cheque. A big ‘thank you’ from all the members, staff and volunteers.
The Phoenix Stroke Club proudly accepted the Best Community Organisation Award as part of this year’s Community Awards organised by the County Times and Horsham District Council.
